Life gives us opportunities…and it’s our responsibility to recognize them.

Life is all about opportunities and chances.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!

An opportunity may present itself and it’s up to each individual person to see what that is for them and then take a gamble on it. It feels scary and uncertain. It’s like walking into the darkness with no flashlight but the ‘what if’ is even more frightening than embracing the opportunity. This belief was cemented into my mind since I read the book ‘ The Power Of Your Subconscious Mind ‘ by Dr Joseph Murphy.

The life-changing book by Dr Joseph Murphy

The space I live in is a privilege. I had the chance a number of years ago and I took it. It has helped me so much and given me a level of independence that enables me to feel freedom. Even though it is not perfect but having a space to call my own where I can be by myself has given me calmness and control over how I live my life.

Life gave me the opportunity to travel and see some parts of the world and I don’t regret it for a second. I made memories I will cherish for a lifetime. I formed friendships with people that I have so much love and respect for. And I feel grateful that I had the health and the financial resources to do so. Now with the world in lockdown, I feel even more fortunate to have had those special moments.

I had the opportunity to live overseas. I can’t imagine being the person that I am today without the life experience I had there. It taught me to be more open to new experiences and to be more mindful. It was there that I started practising yoga and tried sports that I always thought about like Krav Maga. I was so driven and determined to live there that no obstacle was impossible to break down. I found apartments and jobs in under 2 weeks. I went for runs in 0-degree weather. I got a visa in under one week. It was there that I had the highest of highs and the lowest of lows.

Standing in front of one of the biggest signs of opportunity and hope in the world; The Berlin Wall.

But the other element that goes with embracing the opportunity, is sensing when it’s not the right time. At the start of the year, I contemplated the opportunity to make a big investment but my intuition guided me away from it. I think just as it is important to recognise when you have opportunities, it is just as important to go with the natural flow of things and if obstacles stand in the way then to let that ‘thing’ go.

It’s the universe’s way of advising you against it. So trust your gut instinct because that will never let you down.
